What qualifies sex as sex?

In the classic interpretation of the word sex, the act is thought to be a ritual between a man and a woman in which vaginal penetration occurs. We all know that sex is NOT nearly that black and white! What do you qualify to be "sex"? How do you feel about the old ideas on sex?

I think that what "counts" as sex changes over time, and can definitely vary from person to person. I know that many people don't want to think of oral sex as "sex" because it allows them to continue thinking of themselves as virgins, even while sex educators want oral sex to be included in the definition of "sex" because it is not without risk.

On a personal level...I sleep with men and women, and there are things that I would call "sex" with a woman that I wouldn't with a man. I don't know if that's inconsistent, or just an accurate description of how I feel?
